Set up and use the Xplan integration

Last updated: October 12, 2026

This article shows you how to connect AdvisoryAI to Xplan, add clients from it, and push fact-find data back after a meeting.

The Xplan integration works like the other back office connections: you pull a client across once, generate meeting notes and fact finds as normal, then review and confirm the facts you want written back into Xplan. Setup has one extra step on the Xplan side before anything will connect.

Before you begin

  • Ask your firm's Xplan administrator to add AdvisoryAI as an integration inside Xplan. Until that is done, the connection fails with an "Invalid Data!" error.
  • Iress reviews and approves the integration on its side. Firms have been quoted up to two weeks by Xplan support, so start early. To find out where your approval stands, email support@advisoryai.com with your firm name and site ID; the team checks with Iress and replies with the status.
  • Have your Xplan site ID to hand. Your Xplan administrator can give it to you.
  • Each user connects their own Xplan login.

Connect Xplan

  1. Click Tools & Settings at the bottom of the sidebar, then Integrations.
  2. Find Xplan and click Connect.
  3. Enter your site ID and sign in with your Xplan login when prompted.
  4. Check the Xplan card shows you are connected. If it does not, see the troubleshooting section below.

Add a client from Xplan

Clients come across from Xplan one at a time.

  1. Open Clients from the sidebar.
  2. Choose the option to add a client from Xplan, then search for the client by name.
  3. Select the right record and add them. The client now carries the Xplan marker in your Clients list, and their fact-find data is available to Atlas, Evie and Emma.

The integration maps 89 fact-find fields: personal details, employment, address, dependants, assets, liabilities, income, expenses, and savings and investments.

Please note: Atlas does not yet query Xplan client fields directly in chat the way it does for some other back office systems. For a question about a client's current details, attach the documents you want Atlas to use, or create a report with the fact find selected as an input.

Push fact-find data back to Xplan

  1. Create the report for the linked client: a meeting note or a fact find, with the recording and any supporting documents.
  2. Open the finished report and click the button that updates Xplan at the top of the page.
  3. Review each section. Proposed changes are highlighted green against the value already in Xplan. Edit, skip or discard anything you do not want written back, then confirm section by section.

Nothing is written to Xplan until you confirm it, and only what appears in the report is offered. A new address mentioned in the meeting but missing from the note will not reach Xplan until you add it to the report.

If Xplan will not connect

  • "Invalid Data!" on connecting. AdvisoryAI has not yet been added as an integration inside Xplan. Ask your Xplan administrator to complete that step, then try again.
  • The site ID is rejected. Check it with your Xplan administrator; a site ID from a different Xplan site will not connect.
  • Still not connecting. Email support@advisoryai.com with your site ID, the error shown and the date you tried. If Xplan's approval of the integration is outstanding, the team can tell you where it stands.

Also asked

Do you integrate with WealthCraft, Dynamic Planner or other systems?

The live back office integrations are Intelliflo, Curo, Plannr and Xplan. There is no WealthCraft integration. There is no direct Dynamic Planner integration either: download the risk report as a PDF and add it as an input when you create a report, and the figures are read from there. For the full list of what connects, see Other back office systems and integrations below.

How do I integrate my back office with the platform?

Every back office connects from the same place: Tools & Settings, then Integrations, then Connect on the card for your system. For Xplan you enter your site ID; for the other systems you sign in on that system's own page. If the Xplan card still does not connect after your administrator has added AdvisoryAI inside Xplan, email support@advisoryai.com with your site ID and the error shown; the team checks the connection from its side and replies with what to change.

Next steps

  • Add the clients you are meeting this week so meetings and documents land on the right record.
  • Generate your first report for a linked client and try the push with one section, such as address, before you rely on it for a full fact find.
