Atlas Memory: Customising and Remembering Output

Last updated: October 12, 2026

This article shows you how to save the preferences and standing instructions Atlas should follow every time, how to manage them, and when to use memory rather than the tone or dictionary settings.

Atlas can remember how you like its output, such as bullet points instead of tables, bold headings, a particular colour for titles or text so documents match your firm's house style, or a fact about a client that should shape every answer. Once a preference is saved, Atlas applies it to future documents without you asking again. Memories are attached to your login: Atlas learns from you, not from other users of Atlas.

Before you begin

  • Memory applies to Atlas only. Evie and Emma outputs follow the tone setting and your templates instead; see the section on choosing the right setting below.

  • Advisers and paraplanner plus users can save memories. If you cannot see the option, ask your admin to check your role.

  • Decide whether the instruction is about one client or about everything you ask, because you choose that when you save it.

Save a preference from a chat

  1. Ask Atlas for the change after it generates something, for example "use bullet points instead of a table", "make the headings bold", "change the text colour", or "centre and underline the title".

  2. Confirm when Atlas asks whether to remember it. Atlas offers to save the change as a memory; accept the card and Atlas confirms the saved entry in the chat. You can also say it outright: "Remember that I always want bullet points." Atlas confirms with a card.

  3. Save a client fact the same way. With the client named or selected, say "Remember that this client is hard of hearing and prefers letters to calls." The memory applies whenever you ask about that client.

Saved entries appear on the Memory page, so you can check what Atlas is holding.

Add or remove a memory on the Memory page

  1. Open Tools & Settings, select AI Settings, then Memory.

  2. Add an entry in plain words. Choose whether it applies to one client or to everything you ask.

  3. Remove an entry you no longer want from the same page. You can also tell Atlas in a chat: "Forget that I wanted tables as bullet points."

A client's memories are also listed on the client's record under the Memory tab, which is the quickest place to check what Atlas knows about one person.

What happens going forward

Once a preference is saved, Atlas applies it to every document it generates for you. If you have saved that titles should be centred, underlined and a specific size, every new document follows that until you change the entry. Atlas picks the most relevant saved entries for each question, so a client memory shows up when you ask about that client and a general formatting preference shows up everywhere.

When you ask Atlas for a meeting note, it looks at the templates available to you and uses the one you use most often, or the only one if you have one. You can keep asking for changes alongside the document.

When Atlas generates a document, you can copy it straight into another application such as Word and the formatting is retained.

Choose the right setting

Memory, tone, dictionary and address each do a different job, so put the instruction in the right place.

  • Memory (AI Settings, Memory): formatting preferences and client or firm facts for Atlas. Yours alone, and as many entries as you need.

  • Tone (AI Settings): a description of how you write, which shapes the style of Evie meeting notes and Emma reports, including email summaries. Set for each user individually and limited in length, so use it for your style guide rather than for facts. If you have built up style prompts elsewhere, paste the essentials here. A tone instruction can, for example, stop emphatic words such as "significantly" and "crucial" appearing in your notes.

  • Dictionary (AI Settings): firm-level spellings and terms, such as product names and adviser names, applied across the firm.

  • Address: fills the address box in templates.

Please note: memory does not hold whole documents. If you want Atlas to work from your investment philosophy or planning framework, attach the document to the chat where you need it. Saving it as standing background context is not supported.

Also asked

How do I make Atlas write emails in my own voice, using the style prompts I built up elsewhere?

Put the style instructions into Tone under AI Settings, trimmed to the essentials because the field has a length limit, and every draft that follows the tone setting, including email summaries, picks up your voice. Use memory for anything else Atlas should always know, such as a client being hard of hearing or preferring letters to calls. Atlas learns from what you tell it, in the tone setting, in memory and in the chat; it does not pick up your style on its own from the edits you make to its output.

Next steps

  • Save the first instruction you find yourself repeating, then check it on the Memory page.

  • If your meeting notes need a different style rather than a different format, set the tone instead: see the article below.
