Uploading Documents on Atlas

Uploading documents to Atlas

Atlas can read documents you upload and use them to answer questions, generate summaries, and support report writing.

Supported file types

You can upload:

  • PDF files — the most common format, used for fact finds, illustrations, LOA packs, and suitability reports

  • Word documents (.docx) — templates, draft reports, and pre-advice documents

  • Excel spreadsheets — charges comparisons, cashflow data, and financial summaries

  • Plain text files

Atlas is designed to work with whatever format your firm already uses, so you don't need to convert documents before uploading them.

How it works

When you upload a document, Atlas needs a short amount of time to prepare it before you can work with it. Once it's ready, you can ask Atlas questions about the document or request a summary in plain English.

Once uploaded, a document stays attached to that client's profile. It remains available for any future question you ask or report you generate for that client, not just the one you uploaded it for.

For example, if you upload a Letter of Authority (LOA) response from a provider, you can ask Atlas to summarise it. Atlas will pull out key details such as the policy number, plan start date, investment charges, and any safeguarded benefits or penalties, along with the source reference for each figure.

What Atlas handles well

Meeting notes Evie records and structures meeting notes automatically during calls. If a recording isn't available, you can upload a document manually instead. Where possible, upload the meeting note Evie has already generated rather than a raw transcript — the meeting note is more structured and gives Atlas better information to work with.

Fact finds Atlas recognises standard fact find formats once uploaded and correctly classified. For example, a fact find exported as a PDF from your back-office system can be uploaded and classified as a fact find, and Atlas will use it to populate circumstances and objectives sections in reports.

LOA packs Atlas can process lengthy scheme information documents and extract the key data automatically. It will also flag any information the provider hasn't included, and can generate a draft email for you to send requesting the missing details.

Illustrations and provider documents Provider illustrations can be uploaded to support charges comparisons and recommendation rationale. Atlas extracts relevant data from these and can incorporate it into report generation.

Research documents Any research you upload is used to inform report generation, so you can focus on the research itself rather than manually transcribing it into a report.

When documents disagree

If two uploaded documents contain conflicting data — for example, different values for the same field — Atlas will surface the conflict rather than resolve it automatically. You'll need to review the conflicting values and confirm which one is correct before proceeding.
