Using Atlas to uncover new business development opportunities

Using Atlas to spot business development opportunities

Atlas can help you identify opportunities across your client bank, such as unused allowances, protection gaps, or planning that hasn't happened yet.

What Atlas can look for

Atlas is trained on UK financial advice, so it recognises specific types of opportunity rather than giving generic answers. You can ask it to list the categories it can identify, which typically include:

  • Protection gaps

  • Pension planning

  • ISA and investment opportunities

  • Tax planning

  • Estate planning

What Atlas looks at to answer

When you ask a question like this, Atlas draws on everything it has access to for your client bank, including:

  • Meeting transcripts

  • Documents you've uploaded for a client, such as those used to generate a meeting note or a suitability letter

  • Client data from your CRM, where connected

The more complete your data — for example, meetings consistently recorded and documents uploaded — the more accurate and detailed the answer will be.

See Atlas in Action (Example: finding unused ISA allowance)

If you ask Atlas which of your clients haven't used their ISA allowance this year, it will review your client bank and return a prioritised list, typically grouped as high, medium, or low priority.

For each client, Atlas will explain why they've been flagged. This might be based on the size of the unused allowance, or on how little has been contributed so far this tax year relative to the full allowance.

Oliver shows exactly how Atlas can be used in this instance in a demo below.

More ways to use Atlas for growth and client management

Prioritising clients for growth

You can ask Atlas which clients to prioritise speaking with based on opportunities to grow your assets under management. Atlas returns a prioritised list (high, medium, low), with suggested actions for each client, such as booking an investment meeting or an inheritance tax planning session.

One useful angle for this is assets held elsewhere — you can ask Atlas which clients have mentioned investments or pensions that aren't currently under your agency. Atlas draws this from fact finds and meeting notes, for example a client mentioning an ISA held with another provider, cash sitting in another account, or an old pension that could be consolidated or reviewed for better options.

Flagging pensions that may not be sustainable

You can ask Atlas to review your clients' pension drawdown arrangements and flag any where the current withdrawal rate looks unlikely to sustain the client through retirement. This could highlight clients worth bringing in for a review before the position gets worse, rather than waiting for their next scheduled check-in.
